After buying it at auction, James \u2018Jimmy\u2019 Web from Jimmy\u2019s World<\/a> managed to power it up for the first time in decades.<\/p>\n

The 1962 Lockheed 1329 JetStar owned by one of history\u2019s greatest rock stars spent four decades rotting away in the desert.<\/p>\n

This, as you can imagine, took a heavy toll<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the plane\u2019s engines did start, Web\u2019s enthusiasm was immediately curbed after an inspection revealed the insane cost of building the plane back to life.<\/p>\n

It cost him roughly $230,000 to get Elvis\u2019 jet to start again, but it\u2019d cost nearly $6 million to make it usable again.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019d be a moot point anyway because, for regulatory reasons, the plane would never be legally allowed to fly again.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, Web came up with a few different ideas, and eventually he decided his best bet would be to turn the jet into a luxury RV.<\/p>\n

And his plan is taking shape.<\/p>\n

In his latest video<\/a>, Web showed the progress they\u2019re making with the jet.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

They\u2019re stripping it down, removing all unnecessary components.<\/p>\n

After that, they\u2019ll start working on the interior, turning this disused jet into a luxury RV.<\/p>\n

The idea is to essentially figure out a way to \u2018mount\u2019 the jet\u2019s body, including the fuselage, onto an RV chassis.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s going to take time, patience, and of course money, but we\u2019re confident the end result will be spectacular. <\/p>\n
