A design company in China has designed a place called Floating City that, you guessed it, floats.<\/p>\n
The city will be a peaceful and sustainable retreat from the bustling metropolis on shore.<\/p>\n
With underwater highways and functioning farms, this city is one of the most ambitious plans we\u2019ve ever seen.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Saudi Arabia wants to build an $8 billion turtle-shaped floating city<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n While it sounds like something from a sci-fi film, a floating city is not a completely new concept.<\/p>\n South Korea is building one<\/a> that will house 100,000 people by 2025.<\/p>\n While Dubai is building its floating version of Venice<\/a>, complete with underwater hotel suites.<\/p>\n <\/a>AT Design Office<\/p>\n Now AT Design Offices<\/a>, a Chinese construction company, has released plans to make a city of its own.<\/p>\n Floating City is designed to sit in the Greater Bay Area, which has links to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.<\/p>\n The floating concrete structure will be 492 feet long and 98 feet wide.<\/p>\n The design is futuristic-looking, made up of a series of hexagons that connect to make \u2018pods\u2019.<\/p>\n A cruise port makes this a tourist destination for large cruise ships, while there is also a marina for smaller yachts to reach the city.<\/p>\n <\/a>AT Design Office<\/a>AT Design Office<\/p>\n If a floating structure of this size seems impossible, it\u2019s actually been done before.<\/p>\n This design uses the same principles of a nearby floating bridge, which is 31 miles long and connects three major cities.<\/p>\n The concrete parts that make up the island are made onshore and then floated out to the city\u2019s location.<\/p>\n The city\u2019s main industry will be entertainment, providing a hotel and a performance arena for tourists passing through to enjoy.<\/p>\n It will also be inhabitable for a small population who are happy to live out at sea.<\/p>\n The city will be mostly self-sufficient with its own rubbish collection facilities, farms and even hatcheries.<\/p>\n There will also be two public green belts, one above water and one below.<\/p>\n <\/a>AT Design Office<\/p>\n The one that sits at the top of the city will be where residents can exercise and breathe fresh air.<\/p>\n Below will be more of a recreational space, where people can swim or explore the area in small submarines.<\/p>\n Currently, Floating City is still in the concept stages and it\u2019s unclear if and when it will be built.<\/p>\n But it certainly won\u2019t be the last floating city we hear of.<\/p>\n As the sea levels continue to rise, so will the desire and need to build these new cities, away from the disappearing shorelines.<\/p>\n The post Inside futuristic design for floating city in China with underwater streets<\/a> appeared first on Supercar Blondie<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A design company in China has designed a place called Floating City that, you guessed it, floats.
