{"id":45047,"date":"2024-01-17T06:13:57","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T14:13:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sweet-pascal.52-27-215-206.plesk.page\/everything-we-know-about-nasas-x-59-supersonic-jet-so-far\/"},"modified":"2024-01-17T06:13:57","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T14:13:57","slug":"everything-we-know-about-nasas-x-59-supersonic-jet-so-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vietvalley.com\/en\/everything-we-know-about-nasas-x-59-supersonic-jet-so-far\/","title":{"rendered":"Everything we know about NASA\u2019s X-59 supersonic jet so far"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><\/div>\n<p>NASA is working on a passenger plane that would be just as fast as the Concorde.<\/p>\n<p>This supersonic jet can you get from London to New York and back in record time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/cost-of-concorde-plane-ticket\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"The mammoth cost of a Concorde ticket and the reasons it is no longer around today\" rel=\"noopener\">The mammoth cost of a Concorde ticket and the reasons it is no longer around today<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People are already calling it the \u2018New Concorde\u2019, and for good reason.<\/p>\n<p>NASA partnered up with aerospace company, Lockheed Martin, to tweak the company\u2019s supersonic jet called \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/quesst-the-vehicle\/#:~:text=Its%20design%20research%20speed%20will,thump%20heard%20on%20the%20ground.\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Quesst X59<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n<p>The jet is capable of traveling of 925 mph (1,488 km\/h), or Mach 1.4.<\/p>\n<p>At that speed, the plane would be capable of traveling from NYC to London in less than four hours.<\/p>\n<p>Give or take the same amount of time it took the Concorde when it was still active.<\/p>\n<p>And the plan is to connect at least 50 cities between the US and Europe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NASA-X59-new-concorde.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>Lockheed Martin<\/p>\n<p>The sleek red, white and NASA \u2018Sonic Blue\u2019 livery is more than just a tribute to the American flag.<\/p>\n<p>The NASA X-59 uses a special type of paint that protects the aircraft from corrosion and moisture.<\/p>\n<p>It also includes key safety markings to assist flight operations when the plane is about to land.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NASA-X59-new-concorde-1.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>NASA<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft is 99.7 feet long and 29.5 feet wide.<\/p>\n<p>NASA is leaving no stone unturned.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re even having to work on a way to reduce to noise from the signature \u2018sonic boom\u2019 that occurs when supersonic vehicles that break the <a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/sky-ov-supersonic-hydrogen-plane\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">speed of sound<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s iconic, but also slightly annoying.<\/p>\n<p>Especially for people on the ground.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NASA-X59-new-concorde-2.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>NASA<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/cost-of-concorde-plane-ticket\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">last Concorde flight<\/a>, almost exactly 20 years ago, took 100+ passengers from New York City to London Heathrow in three hours and 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>There are movies that are longer than that these days.<\/p>\n<p>After the Concorde was gone, we got back to \u2018normal\u2019 aircraft, which take anywhere from seven to nine hours depending on the route the airline chooses.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018new Concorde\u2019 \u2013 the NASA X-59 \u2013 would be a game changer for transoceanic travel.<\/p>\n<p>NASA is <a href=\"https:\/\/supercarblondie.com\/nasa-moves-to-next-phase-of-high-speed-air-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">currently working<\/a> on a first test flight ahead of the plane\u2019s maiden flight in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The really good news is we finally have a physical, working prototype.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p>This is not a render.<\/p>\n<p>This is the X-59, a single-seat X-plane aiming to reduce the sound of the sonic boom to a mere thump. It opens the possibility for commercial supersonic flights over land, which has been prohibited since 1973.
