The student was taken to Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, where she died.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Though the exact cause of her death is unknown, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/english.vov.vn\/en\/society\/dozens-of-students-hospitalised-after-breakfast-a-death-reported-post1087274.vov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>student was suffering from an underlying heart disease<\/span><\/a><span>, according to the provincial Department of Health in a report by Voice of Vietnam, a state-controlled news website.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In all, about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tuoitre.vn\/vu-mot-hoc-sinh-tu-vong-o-nha-trang-con-28-em-bi-ngo-doc-dang-nam-vien-20240405195448985.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>37 students from two schools<\/span><\/a><span> \u2014 Vinh Truong Primary School and Tran Hung Dao secondary School \u2014 were taken to hospitals for emergency treatment, according to Vietnam\u2019s Tuoi Tre News.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Relevant bodies are investigating the incidents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>String of cases<\/p>\n<p><span>In recent years, Nha Trang, which is about 450 kilometers (280 miles) northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, has had several cases of food poisoning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In March, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tuoitrenews.vn\/news\/society\/20240316\/nha-trang-food-poisoning-case-more-cases-reported\/78820.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>nearly 350 diners at the restaurant Tram Anh Chicken Rice showed symptoms of food poisoning<\/span><\/a><span> after eating rice and chicken, most of whom had to be hospitalized, according to Tuoi Tre News.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2023, nearly 400 students at a school were sickened in what the Khanh Hoa Department of Health later identified as salmonella poisoning, the report said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Friday, 28 students from Vinh Truong Primary School and Tran Hung Dao Secondary School were still being monitored and treated at the hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A Vinh Truong Primary School official told Vietnamese media that the students ate rice with chicken, chicken sandwiches and egg sandwiches at the indoor eatery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Translated by Anna Vu for RFA Vietnamese.
