When I asked for your vote, I did so on a platform of innovation, fiscal responsibility, and honest governance. While my name is no longer on the ballot, I have an obligation to the more than 79,000 voters\u2014over 17% of the electorate\u2014who entrusted me with their confidence and their vision for a modernized, accountable Assessor’s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite operating with limited resources, we won more votes on Election Day than any other candidate\u2014a clear mandate from voters who made their decision when it mattered most. We achieved this through strategic execution, fiscal discipline, and a message that resonated because it was grounded in truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The choice before voters in this runoff is not merely about filling a position. It is a test of the principles we fought for together: analytical rigor, operational excellence, and unwavering honesty about what is legally and fiscally possible. You trusted me to manage approximately 600,000 property assessments with precision and fairness, to modernize outdated systems, and to never sacrifice integrity for political expediency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is why I must address the misleading rhetoric coming from Rishi Kumar’s campaign. Kumar has made a central promise to “exempt ALL SENIORS from property tax.” As I stated repeatedly during my campaign and detailed on my website, this is simply false. Under the California Constitution, the County Assessor does not have the power to invent new exemptions or unilaterally change tax law. The Assessor implements the law as written\u2014period. To promise otherwise is to deceive the very people who most need reliable and honest leadership: our seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After applying the same rigorous standards to this decision that I brought to the campaign, I am endorsing Neysa Fligor for Santa Clara County Assessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having shared the debate stage with Neysa multiple times throughout this campaign, I have witnessed her exceptional intellect and deep commitment to this office. We found alignment on key issues and challenged each other constructively on others\u2014the hallmark of substantive candidates engaged in serious dialogue. My conclusion is unequivocal: Neysa Fligor is the most qualified candidate for this position. I have complete confidence in her integrity and her vision for transforming this critical office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neysa understands what I emphasized throughout my campaign: the County cannot simply tax or bond our way out of every challenge. Sustainable governance requires more than simplistic solutions or flashy promises that ignore the law.
