“The object of general envy” among Parisians during his lifetime, no one else was allowed access to it.

In his book La Tour de Trois Cent Métres (The 300 Meter Tower), author Henri Girard says Parisians offer up “a small fortune” to rent his private space for a single night.

But Eiffel consistently refused, preferring to do his work there in private with esteemed guests, including Thomas Edison according to Explorer Geo.

Unlike the steel and hard lines of the Eiffel Tower surrounding it, the pied à terre is cozy.

It has paisley wallpaper, wood furniture, and oil paintings – and the best views of Paris.

The nest, which sits 1,000 above the ground, is now open for the public to tour.
