Early results show incumbent Councilmember Peter Ortiz leading the pack of candidates seeking the District 5 seat to represent East San Jose on the City Council. As of 8 p.m. Tuesday, Ortiz is ahead with 44.9% of the vote or 2,717 votes while Vietnamese-language television journalist Vy Dang follows in second with just more than 20% or 1,213 votes.
